Lead Biologist

We are currently seeking a biologist and team leader with a strong track record in applied or translational ‘omics technologies to join our US-based Breath Biopsy Center of Excellence, located in Research Triangle Park, NC. The successful candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary team with extensive experience in metabolomics, biomarker discovery, and precision medicine, working to accelerate the awareness and adoption of Breath Biopsy as a valuable tool for biomedical researchers and clinicians. She/he will provide scientific and technical support to the US Sales Team, thereby contributing to the expansion of US partnerships and business opportunities. In addition, she/he will be responsible for supporting the recruitment and selection of new hires for a US-based breath data analysis team, as well as providing mentorship and development of this team, which delivers customer-enabling insights from complex volatile organic compound (VOC) data sets.

Responsibilities:

  • Building and developing a strong base of support for Breath Biopsy in the scientific research community, establishing it as a valued and widely used tool in discovery and translational research
  • Developing strong, enduring relationships and beneficial partnerships with our Pharma, Biotech, and Academic customers
  • Supporting the Breath Biopsy sales cycle by providing scientific and technical expertise to the Sales Team, as well as contributing to relevant scientific content generation and Marketing initiatives
  • Aiding the recruitment of qualified candidates and selection of new employees for the US breath data analysis team
  • Providing managerial oversight and scientific training to the US breath data analysis team to ensure timely generation of consistent, high-quality deliverables, exceptional service, and high customer satisfaction
  • Improving operational delivery of discovery and translational research studies for US customers, working closely with our Cambridge, UK-based teams to provide a full complement of services from study design to reporting
  • Promoting ongoing collaboration and sharing of knowledge between the US and UK sites

Competencies and Requirements:

  • An advanced degree in Life Sciences (PhD); the successful candidate will be an accomplished professional and leader in biomarker discovery, translational research, and/or metabolomics applications
  • Strong track record of KOL engagement and customer satisfaction; broad experience managing discovery and translational research projects in a Contract Research Organization (CRO) setting
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong analytical skills and masterful ability to synthesize complex data into insightful information for internal and external customers; ability to rapidly become well-versed in relevant scientific literature
  • Effective decision making and ability to prioritize workloads for a high-performing, cross-functional team to deliver multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment and to meet contractual obligations to our customers
  • Team-oriented and customer-focused; strong alignment to company strategy and corporate culture
