The aim of the Cancer Research UK workshop on lung cancer (25th February 2016) was to bring together a range of disciplines working in lung cancer screening and early diagnosis, to discuss research gaps and priorities, share best practice and develop new collaborations. Director Billy Boyle spoke about the joint NHS-Owlstone Medical LUCID (Lung Cancer Indicator Detection) project, which aims to save 10000 lives and save the NHS £245 million by the year 2020 by using Owlstone's FAIMS technology to create a 'breathalyzer' for lung cancer diagnosis.
