Head of Project Management Office
Chris joined Owlstone Medical in 2018 as the project manager for AVCAD, a collaborative project for the US Department of Defence to fulfil the engineering and manufacturing development phase for a portable chemical detection device.
Chris’s background in project and programme management led to him introducing a more structured approach to the project work in Owlstone and, towards the end of 2019, he was asked to develop and lead a formal Project Management Office.
Since then, the PMO has grown in numbers and in competence to provide a structured, yet pragmatic, approach to the wide diversity of work across Owlstone which includes new product developments, customer driven research studies, biomarker discovery capability, clinical trials, defence contract work and business support systems. The PMO is also responsible for wider company initiatives such as risk and knowledge management.
Prior to Owlstone, Chris started life as an electronics engineer, initially with the BBC as a sound engineer. Following that, Chris worked for the British Antarctic Survey as the communication systems specialist and ran several large, collaborative programmes across Antarctica. He has also worked with a variety of product development companies involved in medical devices, IoT, nano-positioning systems, emergency vehicle systems and high-spec connectors and switches.
Chris is a Chartered Engineer and a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
