The Business Development Manager, Digestive Health will be responsible for growing the sales of Owlstone Medical’s OMED Health digestive health offering with key private and public sector healthcare providers in the UK. We are seeking a seasoned business development professional with a strong track record in sales and a proven ability to successfully handle the entire sales process. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in selling medical devices to healthcare providers, ideally in the digestive health space, with pre-existing relationships established in the UK.
Responsibilities (Key Tasks/Accountability)
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including development, marketing and business teams to create a focused plan to achieve sales targets.
- Contribute to the development and ongoing refinement of the UK go-to-market strategy for at-home SIBO/IMO testing and treatment pathways, including market segmentation, ideal customer profiles and value propositions across private and public sectors.
- Identify potential target segments and customers, ideally leaning on existing network, for our OMED Health SIBO / IMO at-home testing and treatment pathways business.
- Execute on an outreach plan using emails, calls, networking, events and referrals to build a pipeline of opportunities.
- Qualify for budget, authority, timing and need as well as gain an in depth understanding of the customers pain points and decision-making process.
- Be able to confidently articulate the benefits of the OMED Health solution to relevant stakeholders while handing objections and negotiating terms to drive deals to a close.
- Develop and execute on a plan to drive sustained and growing repeat business within our key accounts.
- Provide market feedback to product, marketing and leadership teams at Owlstone to help refine future offerings based on real-world customer conversations.
Person Specification
Education and Training
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field
Experience / Knowledge
Essential
- Significant experience of developing and building a business in medical devices or a related field to private and / or public healthcare providers
- Proven track record of sales in a relevant sector
Desirable
- Experienced in developing a new business in the above sectors from early-stage concepts to delivery and revenue growth
- Has existing business relationships with private and public healthcare providers in digestive health in the UK
Skills
- The ability to sell ideas, influence and persuade at all levels of the organisation
- The ability to work within a matrixed organisation structure
- Strong relationship and negotiation skills with clients and internal team members
- Experience of working in a fast-moving entrepreneurial organisation
